The Fashion Trailer

The Delhi based Wills India Fashion Week (WIFW) may have got over, but with the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) already on, the participating designers are caught up in the preparations that are on in full swing.

The first lot may have shown yesterday but we bring you what the rest are designing for this Autumn Winter and here’s what some of the designers have in store
Neeta Lulla
In this collection, Neeta has used colours symbolising love and highlighting its vibrant dynamic energy. And while her last collection dwelt on the mother-child relationship, this time it’s the immortal love of a woman that’s her inspiration. Even as burgundy epitomises the passion of a woman in love, enhancing the subtlety is the rich touch of brown. Similarly, the colour tan portrays the woman’s submission and her complete surrender while crème is the color of eternity. If that’s not enough, the woman’s insignia is the antique gold that is simply ethereal, woven into the flowing pieces of georgette and organza accentuating its every nuance.
Neeta Lulla will show on Sunday, 30/3/08 at 7 pm.
Nikasha Tawdey Titled ‘Bioscopic Adventure’,
Nikasha’s collection is for the globe trotting nomad, with a distinctive Indian identity. With colour combinations, like mint, tomato and hand block sanganer prints, the clothes have extensively used the tie & dye leheriya (means waves in Hindi), mulmul (thin cotton) and resplendent silks and brocades from Benares, teamed up with batik from West Bengal. Also, there’s fine embroidery, with astute detailing like ruching, and beading. Silhouettes like dhoti pants, lehengas, tunics, nehru jackets and sarees, accessorised with bead and button work necklaces, pouches and folk inspired jewellery, sum up the collection.
